Dj. Browning et Mh. Rotberg, VITREOUS HEMORRHAGE COMPLICATING LASER-INDUCED CHORIORETINAL ANASTOMOSIS FOR CENTRAL RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION, American journal of ophthalmology, 122(4), 1996, pp. 588-589
PURPOSE: To report a severe complication of laser chorioretinal anasto
mosis for central retinal vein occlusion. METHOD: Case report. RESULTS
: In the right eye of a 62-year-old woman with nonischemic central ret
inal vein occlusion, retinal neovascularization at the laser chorioret
inal anastomosis site caused dense secondary vitreous hemorrhage. Vitr
eous hemorrhage prevented laser panretinal photocoagulation for subseq
uent iris neovascularization, necessitating vitrectomy surgery to clea
r the hemorrhage and allow the treatment. CONCLUSION: Laser chorioreti
nal anastomosis can result in severe vitreous hemorrhage and complicat
e efforts to manage later sequelae of central retinal vein occlusion.
