Topical tormentil hydrogels were prepared using various gelling agents (cellulose derivatives, carraghenans and alginates). Their physical s tability depends on the gelling agents, and, for particular classes of agents, on the degree of polymerization, the degree of substitution, and the addition of reticulating agents.
