IN SEARCH OF A RESOLUTION OF BELLS PARADOX

It is shown that the violations of Bell's inequalities observed in opt ical experiments admit an adequate explanation, on the basis of a mode l employing four-dimensional joint probabilities, that is consistent w ith a local hidden-variable theory. For a true experimental demonstrat ion of Bell's paradox, it is necessary to take account of individual p hotocounts in the averaging. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
