Ty. Na et I. Pop, FLOW AND HEAT-TRANSFER OVER A LONGITUDINAL CIRCULAR-CYLINDER MOVING IN PARALLEL OR REVERSELY TO A FREE-STREAM, Acta mechanica, 118(1-4), 1996, pp. 185-195
Steady laminar boundary layer flow and heat transfer over a thin longi
tudinal isothermal circular cylinder moving in a flowing stream has be
en studied in this paper. The cases in which the cylinder is moving in
the same (parallel) or in the opposite (reverse) direction to the fre
e stream are considered. The transformed nonsimilar boundary layer equ
ations are solved numerically using the Keller-box method for some val
ues of the curvature parameter, the Prandtl number and relative veloci
ty parameter. The results show that the velocity and temperature distr
ibutions as well as the coefficients of skin friction and the local Nu
sselt number are appreciably affected by the relative velocity paramet
er.
