Comparative analysis is performed of the methods of data processing wi
th the use of numerical modelling of the processes of formation and tr
ansformation in the atmosphere of radiation emitted by a thermal anoma
ly of the forest-fire type and its detection by a receiver. It is show
n that application of the method determined by the variance of differe
nce of brightness temperatures of earth surface and the anomaly in the
middle and far IR spectral intervals notably reduces the minimum admi
ssible linear size of the anomaly, the parameters of detection remaini
ng constant.
