Perhydro-1,4-thiazepine-4,5-dicarboxylic acid sulfoxide (cyclic cystat
hionine sulfoxide [cyclic cystaSO]) and N-acetylperhydro-1,4-thiazepin
e-3,5-dicarboxylic acid (NAc-cyclic cysta) have been identified in the
urine of a patient with cystathioninuria as new metabolites of cystat
hionine for the first time using liquid chromatography-mass spectromet
ry with an atmospheric pressure chemical ionization interface system (
LC/APCI-MS). The concentrations of cyclic cystaSO and NAc cyclic cysta
in the urine of a patient with cystathioninuria have also been determ
ined for the first time using this method: 18.24 +/- 0.79 and 25.23 +/
