Abstract
For decades, immunologists have reported conversion of B-lymphocytic t umors to cells with properties of macrophages. This process was consid ered to be an anomalous result of malignancy in mice and in humans. Fo r patients, the consequences of this biphenotypic cancer are a poor pr ognosis and low remission rate. Here, Melinda Borrello and Richard Phi pps discuss the identification of a normal counterpart to these malign ant B/macrophage cells.
