Ak. Jha et S. Kumar, DYNAMIC EFFECTS DURING A HIGH-SPEED SINTER-FORGING PROCESS, International journal of machine tools & manufacture, 36(10), 1996, pp. 1109-1122
The paper reports on an investigation into the various technological a
spects of a high-speed sinter-forging process. Experiments were conduc
ted and measurements were made in the development of barrelling, strai
n variations at the free surface and densification during dry and lubr
icated high-speed cold forging of sintered copper powder discs. The re
lationship between the frictional stress at the interface and other pr
ocess variables is discussed and an analysis is given for the calculat
ion of pressure distribution and die load by the solution of the equat
ions of equilibrium taking barrelling into consideration for axial sym
metry and plane strain sinter-forging conditions. Results are discusse
d critically to illustrate the interaction of various processing param
eters involved during high-speed sinter-forging process and are presen
ted graphically. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
