Abstract
The occurrence of premature leaks in vitreous enamel coated steel rank s was investigated. Microscopic examination of the failed coatings sho wed that they contained large pores and holidays. Following a plant vi sit, it was suspected that inadequate firing of the enamel coating was the cause of these pores. Laboratory reheating trials confirmed this suspicion.
