Abstract
A hybrid version of a gas calorimeter consisting of parallel-plate and cylindrical ionization chambers is analyzed. A method of summing sign als from the parallel-plate chambers to provide a rapid response of th e detector is considered. Results of tests of two prototype calorimete rs with parallel-plate structures are reported.
