Dr. Kegley et al., BASIS SPLINE COLLOCATION METHOD FOR SOLVING THE SCHRODINGER-EQUATION IN AXILLARY SYMMETRICAL SYSTEMS, Journal of computational physics, 128(1), 1996, pp. 197-208
We use basis spline collocation to solve the Schrodinger equation on a
lattice for axially symmetric systems, with and without spin. The foc
us of the present work is on systems which have continuum states, weak
ly bound states, or strong spin-orbit coupling, since these are the mo
st difficult to solve on the lattice. A brief overview of the basis sp
line collocation method is included which concentrates primarily on th
ose aspects of the theory which are relevant to its application in cyl
indrical coordinates. To demonstrate the method, we solve several mode
l problems selected from the fields of atomic and nuclear physics. (C)
