Abstract
Two four-parameter subclasses of the Poincare gauge theory of gravity with dynamic torsion are shown to have a well-posed initial value prob lem. Each describes, in addition to the usual spin 2 massless graviton , one extra spin 0 dynamic torsion mode. These classes are counterexam ples to certain recent claims.
