Abstract
Engwerda C. R., Dale C. J. & Sandeman R. M. 1996. IgE, TNF alpha, IL1 beta, IL4 and IFN gamma, gene polymorphisms in sheep selected for resi stance to fleece rot and flystrike. International Journal for Parasito logy 26: 787-791. Investigation of restriction fragment length polymor phisms (RFLPs) associated with immunoglobulin E (IgE) and cytokine gen es in the sheep genome revealed polymorphisms in the IgE constant heav y chain, interferon gamma and interleukin 4 genes. No polymorphisms we re found in interleukin 1 beta or tumour necrosis factor alpha. PstI a nd BamHI RFLPs in the IgE gene shelved differences in frequency betwee n animals selected for resistance or susceptibility to fleece rot and blowfly strike.
