We show that high-order harmonics generated by intense laser pulses ar
e shifted to the blue side and chirped to the red side of the spectrum
. The chirp and the frequency shift can be controlled by the chirp of
the exciting laser pulse (in particular, the shift and the chirp can b
e eliminated). Chirped high-order harmonic pulses can be compressed do
wn to a duration of about a half of the fundamental cycle.
