Abstract
A concept, called weak disclosure, is defined from an intruder's stand point. Using this concept and a set of prior information related to th e confidential attribute, an intruder can estimate the value of a conf idential attribute more accurately than the response from the database . The method is independent of the protection methods of the underlyin g statistical database; hence, any statistical database is unsafe from an intruder's standpoint of weak disclosure.
