A novel tunable fibre bandpass filter based on a linearly chirped fibr
o Bragg grating (LCFBG) has been demonstrated. The transmission peaks
in the LCFBG stopband are electronically induced by controlling the st
rain distribution along the LCFBG using a piezoelectric stack. Transmi
ssion peaks with 0.58 nm bandwidth and 10.6dB rejection ratio have bee
n achieved with a tuning step of 0.28 nm over a range of 10 nm.
