Abstract
Essential mixed cryoglobulinemia is a systemic disorder in which cutan eous vasculitis and frequently glomerulonephritis are associated with cryoprecipitable serum immune complexes, Typically, the treatment regi men consists of plasmapheresis, high-dose corticosteroids, and cytotox ic chemotherapy, as well as interferon alfa for hepatitis C virus-rela ted cryoglobulinemia. Herein we describe a man with progressive, sympt omatic cryoglobulinemia and multisystem organ dysfunction in whom cort icosteroid and alkylating therapy failed; however, he had a complete a nd long-lasting remission after administration of 2-chlorodeoxyadenosi ne (cladribine).
