Silica aerogel is a highly porous glass consisting of a tenuous networ
k of SiO2 strands interconnected at random sites. When a He-3-He-4 mix
ture is placed inside the aerogel, the coexistence region is found to
be detached from the superfluid transition line, giving rise to a new
miscible superfluid mixture at high He-3 concentration and low tempera
tures.
