ACOUSTIC COUPLING TO NQR IN THE HEAVY-FERMION CECU6

We have designed an experiment to measure the bulk nuclear spin proper ties of a single crystal sample of CeCu6 using a combination of pulsed ultrasound and NQR. Our preliminary studies show that there is a coup ling between the sound waves and the nuclear quadrupole split energy l evels. We will use this technique to explore the nature of the low tem perature order previously observed in this system [1].
