P. Jess et al., ENERGY-GAP DISTRIBUTION ON POLYCRYSTALLINE HGBA2CUO4+DELTA OBSERVED BY SCANNING TUNNELING SPECTROSCOPY, Czechoslovak journal of Physics, 46, 1996, pp. 1337-1338
Polycrystalline HgBa2CuO4+delta (T-c = 96 K) is studied in the superco
nducting state using a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope (
STM). The superconducting energy gap Delta is determined by electron t
unneling spectroscopy at different locations on the sample surface. Hi
stograms of the extracted gaps reveal 2 values (8.5+/-1.6 meV and 15.1
+/-1.4 meV). We attribute this result to the presence of different cry
stallographic faces with different gap values, indicating gap anisotro
py.
