Abstract
We have built and tested a miniaturized dilution refrigerator, complet ely contained (still, heat exchanger and mixing chamber) inside a plas tic (PVC) tube of 10 mm diameter and 170 mm length. With a 25 cm(2) Cu Ni heat exchanger, it reached temperatures below 50 mK, for circulatio n rates below 70 mu mol/s. The cooling power at 100 mK and 63 mu mol/s was 45 mu W. The experimental space could accommodate samples up to 6 mm in diameter.
