Me. Rodriguez et al., EFFECT OF HYDROMECHANICAL STRESS ON CELLULAR ANTIGENS OF BORDETELLA-PERTUSSIS, Journal of industrial microbiology, 17(1), 1996, pp. 53-55
Cells of Bordetella pertussis grown in a bioreactor under stirring con
ditions were studied to investigate the effect of shear stress on cell
ular-bound filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA). FHA attached to the bacte
rial surface, unlike extracellular FHA, was not affected at the shear
levels tested. Moreover, no other cellular immunogen involved in the w
hole-cell protective activity seemed to be affected by hydromechanical
forces.
