Abstract
We characterise the superconducting state of the binary carbide YC2 by means of magnetisation and specific heat measurements. The thermodyna mic properties reveal weak coupling superconductivity close to the typ e I limit (kappa(GL) approximate to 0.8). The specific heat data in th e superconducting state, as well as the C-12/C-13-isotope shift are in excellent agreement with weak coupling BCS predictions.
