The Ginzburg-Landau theory of superconductivity provides expressions f
or the free energy and the supercurrent in terms of a spatially varyin
g order parameter. In tile presence of a single impurity, these expres
sions and the differential equation for the order parameter are supple
mented by additional terms. We compute these extra terms using microsc
opic theory. Our calculation is very general, covering any (k) over ca
p-dependent order parameter Delta((k) over cap) which transforms accor
ding to a one-dimensional irreducible representation of the crystallin
e point group.
