P. Remeijer et al., THE POLARIZATION DEPENDENCE OF THE VISCOSITY OF SATURATED HE-3-HE-4 MIXTURES, Czechoslovak journal of Physics, 46, 1996, pp. 107-108
We present measurements of the viscosity of saturated He-3-He-4 mixtur
es up to polarizations of 60% at P = 20 bar and T < 130 mK. We find a
decrease of the viscosity eta(Delta) = eta(0)(1-0.0011(Delta/Delta(0))
(2)) as determined with a vibrating wire. This is caused by the effect
of polarization on both the viscosity at constant He-3 concentration,
and on the saturation concentration. From theoretical work [1] and me
asurements on pure He-3 [2] and very dilute mixtures of He-3-He-4 [3],
a viscosity increase with polarization is expected at constant concen
tration, which leads us to conclude that the maximum solubility decrea
ses as function of polarization.
