R. Schrenk et al., SUPPRESSED SUPERFLUID TRANSITION AND ENHANCED EFFECTIVE-MASS OF LIQUID-HE-3 IN AG-SINTER, Czechoslovak journal of Physics, 46, 1996, pp. 117-118
We report on our measurements of the specific heat of liquid He-3 conf
ined in Ag-sinter (average pore sire 1000 Angstrom) at 1mK < T < 20mK
and 4.8bar less than or equal to p less than or equal to 34.0bar. In t
his restricted geometry, normal liquid He-3 shows Fermi liquid behavio
ur with an enhanced effective mass of the He-3 quasiparticles compared
to the effective mass of bulk He-3. Independent on the pressure, the
superfluid transition is shifted by 0.4mK towards lower temperatures,
and the width of the superfluid transition is much broader compared to
the results obtained in bulk He-3. In the whole temperature range we
observe an additional temperature-independent specific heat which can
be explained by the second layer of He-3 on the sinter surface.
