We propose a new variational wavefunction to describe spin-dependent s
ystems. Spin coherent states are used to represent the spin state of p
articles. Since states are parameterized by a continuous variable, cor
relation operators can be represented as simple integrals over c-value
d functions. These integrals are simulated using standard Monte Carlo
techniques. We present a general N-particle wavefunction written in th
e coherent state basis. Explicit Monte Carlo calculations on liquid He
-3 using this wavefunction give very good agreement with standard meth
ods.
