The method of diagnosis of pathogenetic variations or musculus pirifor
mis syndrome (MPS) by means of computer tomography Is described. 24 pa
tients with early signs of lumbar osteochondrosis and MPS were examine
d. Two variations of MPS with specific clinical and tomographic featur
es were revealed, namely: an early spastic (functional) type and degen
erative-dystrophic one. The pecullarities of muscles (diameter, locati
on, density) and of adjacent pelvic structures were investigated in 15
healthy controls. Differentiated treatment of UPS permitted to contro
l the pain and to promote other clinical signs regression faster than
conventional therapy.
