Optical and hydrodynamic properties of poly(diphenylene sulfone tereph
thalamide) in sulfuric acid were studied using flow birefringence and
viscometry. Optical anisotropies of the molecular segment and monomer
unit and equilibrium rigidity of the entire macromolecule were evaluat
ed from the experimental plot of the optical shear coefficient versus
molecular mass. The macromolecules of the studied heterocyclic polyami
de were found to possess the conformation of a kinetically rigid coil.
