UV, IR, and H-1 NMR spectroscopies were used to study binary copolymer
s of styrene with diethyleneglycol-bis-allyl carbonate and diallyl pht
haliate. The contents of the units of diethyleneglycol-bis-allyl carbo
nate and diallyl phthalate in the copolymer were determined from integ
rated intensity of the absorption band at 1750 cm(-1), integrated inte
nsity of the absorption band at 1730 cm(-1) and the intensity of the a
bsorption band at 284 nm, respectively. The content of styrene in the
copolymer was assessed from the absorbance for the absorption band at
269 nm. The proposed combination of IR and UV spectroscopies permits t
he high-precision determination of both components of the copolymer. T
he molar absorption coefficients for all components are reported.
