Hp. Pati et al., RESISTANCE TO ACTIVATED PROTEIN-C (APC) IN INDIAN PATIENTS OF THROMBOPHILIA, INDIAN JOURNAL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH, 104, 1996, pp. 213-215
In a pilot study, 28 consecutive patients with thrombosis and 23 age a
nd sex matched healthy normal controls were investigated with normalis
ed APC sensitivity ratio (n-APC-SR) to know the defect exists and if s
o its prevalence in India. Six of the 28 (21.4%) thrombotic patients h
ad n-APC-SR of < 0.76 (range 0.55 to 0.74) as compared to the normal c
ontrol value (0.97+/-0.105). Our study shows APC resistance defect in
a significant proportion (21.4%) of Indian patients with thrombotic di
sorders.
