Vapour phase alkylation of phenol with methanol over magnesium-alumini
um calcined hydrotalcites (MgAl-CHT) with an Mg/Al atomic ratio of 3-1
0 has been investigated in detail and reported previously. This study
concerns the evaluation of the kinetic parameters such as the activati
on energy (E(a)) and Arrhenius frequency factor (In A(0)) for the disa
ppearance of phenol employing the Power law equation assuming pseudo f
irst order kinetics. The kinetic parameters were found to be in good a
greement with the specific activity of the catalysts. The existence of
the compensation effect between E(a) and In A(0) has been tested.
