Abstract
This report reviews individual-related variables (age, sex, race, anat omical site, skin surface properties), intra- and interindividual vari ation (temporal, physical and mental activity, orthostatic effect, men strual cycle/menopause), environment-related variables (light conditio ns, temperature) and various instrument-related Variables that influen ce skin colour. CIE colorimetry (Minolta Chroma Meter) and spectrophot ometric measurement (Derma Spectrometer) are considered. The guideline s give recommendations for measuring conditions and procedures.
