Abstract
Cadherins and catenins represent key molecules during development. Rec ent findings demonstrate the involvement of cadherins and catenins in signaling pathways. In a working hypothesis, signaling via beta-cateni n regulates the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in vertebrate develo pment.
