Abstract
This paper proposes the use of polishing suspensions based on ultradis perse diamond powders of a detonation nature for superfine finishing o f elements for x-ray optics. A technique for determining the roughness with subnanometer resolution is described in detail. The following ro ughness values are obtained during polishing: 3 Angstrom for fused qua rtz, 5 Angstrom for K8 glass, and 10 Angstrom for nickel electrochemic ally deposited on copper.
