Abstract
A systematic and objective way is presented to test software statistic ally, using the expected operational economic loss due to failure resu lting from faults encountered in different parts of the software. A te sting probability distribution is derived that will maximise the selec tion of test input stimuli that have the highest potential failure con sequence.
