Since China adopted an open-door policy and introduced economic reform
, its maritime policy has been developing fast and changing quickly. C
hinese maritime policies were earlier reflected in administrative deci
sions and documents which were easily affected by the political and so
cial situations. The implementation of the Maritime Code of the People
's Republic of China (the Maritime Code) and other newly published mar
itime regulations result in a series of maritime policies. These legis
lative policies and intended to be more effective and last for a long
period of time. Thus, it is worth examining these new maritime policie
s.
