Abstract
Formulas based on the two-slot, the cavity, and the electric surface c urrent models to determine the far-field radiation patterns in both th e E and H planes of rectangular antenna elements have been studied and their validity has been assessed. Their variations were experimentall y verified by analyzing a set of newly designed rectangular microstrip antenna elements with various substrate thicknesses. (C) 1996 John Wi ley & Sons, Inc.
