A. Sharaiha et al., ANALYSIS OF THE OPERATION OF A BIDIRECTIONAL OPTICAL BUS MADE OF 2 SEMICONDUCTOR-LASER AMPLIFIERS RUNNING UP TO 1.555 GB S/, Microwave and optical technology letters, 13(4), 1996, pp. 240-242
We report an investigation of a bidirectional optical bus made of two
semiconductor laser amplifiers (SLAs) that are used as modems. In addi
tion to their amplification function, SLAs can also act as fast light
modulators and detectors. They can hence be used as standard access co
mponents in an optical bus. Error-free transmission up to 1.555 Gb/s i
s achieved with -25-dBm optical power. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc
