Abstract
We report a case of a 44-year-old woman who developed Fanconi's syndro me in association with the oral ingestion of L-lysine, L-lysine is wid ely available in health food stores and has been recommended in the la y press for the treatment and prevention of recurrent herpes simplex, The development of a severe tubulointerstitial nephritis, and eventual progression to chronic renal failure, underscores the importance of t his entity, heretofore unrecognized in humans.
