Abstract
The precipitation of CdS and Cd1-xZnxS crystallites in borosilicate gl ass was studied using optical absorption, resonant Raman scattering an d X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Evolution of the optical spectrum ind icates that precipitates form by homogeneous nucleation of CdS from th e glass, followed by Lifshitz-Slyozov coarsening.
