Pj. Fournier et al., EVALUATION OF THE CLINICAL SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF IOBITRIDOL (XENETIX) IN INTRAVENOUS UROGRAPHY, European journal of radiology, 23(3), 1996, pp. 185-189
The aim of this study is to report on the clinical safety and diagnost
ic efficacy of iobitridol (Xenetix(R)) in intravenous urography compar
ed to iohexol (Omnipaque(R)) or iopamidol (Iopamiro(R)). A total of 12
0 patients underwent intravenous urography (ivu); 60 received Xenetix
and 60 either Omnipaque (30 patients) or Iopamiro (30 patients) accord
ing to the center where they were treated. Clinical safety was assesse
d by the reporting of adverse events and diagnostic efficacy was evalu
ated. Warmth sensation was the most commonly reported adverse event. T
wo cases of nausea and vomiting were reported. Concerning diagnostic e
fficacy, 72-74% of the ivu examinations were rated good or excellent b
y the physician. These studies confirm that Xenetix is a suitable cont
rast agent for ivu.
