Abstract
Picosecond differential absorption spectra measurements for V3+:YAG we re performed and a schematic energy-level diagram for tetrahedrally co ordinated V3+ in YAG was deduced, The excited-state absorption transit ions from the (1)E(D-1) level were observed with peaks at 870 and 740 nm. The lifetime of the (1)E(D-1) excited state of the tetrahedral V3 was found to be similar to 130 ps. The ground-stare absorption band o f the T-3(1)(P-3) state was found to be at 590 nm.
