Abstract
Not only can seals dive underwater for long periods, they also hold th eir breath while sleeping on land. Many of the same physiological proc esses involved in the regulation of diving apnea appear to be of impor tance in sleep apnea. Studying seals provides valuable insights into t he control and development of sleep apnea.
