Gcc. Tai et al., COMPARISON OF EFFICIENCY OF ALTERNATIVE SELECTION-STRATEGIES - AN EXAMPLE OF SELECTION FOR RESISTANCE TO COMMON SCAB IN POTATOES, Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 76(4), 1996, pp. 849-852
This paper describes a procedure for obtaining point estimates and con
fidence intervals of response to different selection strategies based
on results of analysis of variance. Three alternative selection strate
gies were compared: family, within-family, and individual selection. E
xperimental data on field resistance of potato seedlings to common sca
b were used to illustrate the procedure. The confidence intervals were
then compared with the intervals established by a normal-approximatio
n procedure.
