Nanocrystallization of a rapidly quenched Fe80.5Nb6.9B12.6 alloy was i
nvestigated. The crystalline fraction upsilon(cr) of alpha-Fe (similar
to 10 nm) was controlled by varying the annealing temperature from 45
0 to 580 degrees C. Curie temperatures of both the amorphous matrix an
d the crystalline phase increase with increasing upsilon(cr), the latt
er being lower than T-c of pure alpha-Fe. The room temperature magneti
zation of the matrix decreases with upsilon(cr). The observed behaviou
r is explained by the presence of Nb in the crystalline grains.
