B. Viala et al., MAGNETIC AND MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF RAPIDLY SOLIDIFIED FE-SI 6.5WT-PERCENT ALLOYS AND THEIR INTERPRETATION, Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials, 160, 1996, pp. 315-317
The structural, mechanical and magnetic properties of Fe-Si 6.5 wt% ra
pidly solidified alloys have been investigated following recrystalliza
tion annealing and different rates of cooling through the B-2 + DO3 or
dering region (1 less than or equal to T less than or equal to 1500 de
grees C min(-1)). A transition from ductile to brittle behavior is obs
erved for T < similar to 1000 degrees C min(-1), chiefly due to B-2 or
dering and the associated formation of superlattice dislocations, havi
ng reduced glide and cross-slip capability, The magnetic behavior appe
ars, however, to be weakly dependent on T, with the energy losses mini
mized for average grain size around 100-150 mu m.
