Finemet-type amorphous layers were prepared with a Cu content of 1-25
at% by co-sputtering from normal finemet and pure Cu onto a liquid-nit
rogen-cooled sample holder. Thin layers with higher Cu content had ver
y soft magnetic properties (H-c similar to 10 A/m) already in the amor
phous phase. On heat creating the 1 at% Cu layer the optimal H-c was 1
1 A/m after 425 degrees C/1 h.
