SOFT-MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF CO TI MULTILAYERS

We report on the structural and magnetic properties of Co/Ti multilaye rs in which the soft magnetic stare is related to a structural transfo rmation within the crystalline Co sublayers. For all samples with d(Ti ) > 1.5 nm, a sudden drop in the coercivity from H-c approximate to 1. 4 to approximate to 0.2 kA/m was observed at critical thickness d(Co)( crit) approximate to 3 nm. Results show that this transition seems to be evidence of a Co transformation from a polycrystalline to nanocryst alline structure.
