A. Parenti et al., THE EFFECT OF LINOMIDE ON THE MIGRATION AND THE PROLIFERATION OF CAPILLARY ENDOTHELIAL-CELLS ELICITED BY VASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL GROWTH-FACTOR, British Journal of Pharmacology, 119(4), 1996, pp. 619-621
In order to assess the mechanism of action of the quinoline-3-carboxya
mide linomide as an antiangiogenic drug, the effect of linomide was st
udied in vitro on postcapillary endothelial cells exposed to vascular
endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Linomide did not block the spontaneo
us replication of endothelial cells, but significantly suppressed endo
thelial cell growth and migration elicited by VEGF. It is concluded th
at linomide appears to be an effective tool to inhibit VEGF-dependent
angiogenesis.
